Project specs:
Pattern: The Bag, by Wendy Wonnacott, in No Sheep for You
Yarn: Elsebeth Lavold Hempathy, in Black and Off White (2 skeins each)
Needles: Knit Picks Options, size 4
Started: July 2007 (I think)
Finished: October 15, 2007
Modifications: 1 extra repeat in the top and bottom sections; linen stitch handles instead of garter stitch
As Grumperina has noted, this pattern really shines best with more contrasting yarns than those used in the original version in the book. I took the contrast to the extreme, and I love the result. The black and white really make the slip-stitch pattern pop! The yarn is lovely stuff, and I will most certainly work with it again. It's perfect for those of us in warm climates.
The knitting of the bag body went quite fast, but the finishing was pretty time-consuming. Knitting five feet worth of linen stitch handles stretched my sanity to the limit, and the lining of the bag severely taxed my non-existent sewing skills. All that said, however, the finished product was well worth the time. A successful project!

WOW! That looks awesome. You really can't beat the black & white color combo.
